Weston-super-Mare AFC have announced they are looking to add more local talent into their outstanding Academy, following major investment into the setup at The Optima Stadium

Players will benefit from exceptional coaching on a FIFA quality 3G surface in a fun, safe and competitive environment.

The Academy is one of only 22 clubs outside of the Football League nationally to be licensed and the only one in North Somerset.

Many Academy products have gone on to become first-team players thanks to the clear player pathway, with the highly-rated Ryan Jones securing a move to Bristol Rovers last season.

The club recently announced a major investment into their thriving Academy setup with the appointments of Simon Panes as their Head of Academy, Mark McKeever as their Head of Coaching, and Jerry White as Chief Scout

Jerry, who previously worked for Cardiff City and Bristol City in a scouting capacity, said:

Our Academy has the best facilities and pathway to semi-professional football in the area and it is our aim, as a recruitment team, to make Weston-super-Mare AFC the club all local young footballers want to play for.”

Head of Academy, Simon Panes, added:

With the Academy, we provide the perfect player pathway from the Foundation Phase through to the Development Phase and finally onto the Senior Phase with our football/education full-time programme in partnership with Weston College.”

“We cater for all.”
