WESTON BACK IN LEAGUE ACTION AT HAYES & YEADING UNITED
Weston are back in Southern League Premier South action as they head to Hayes & Yeading United this Saturday, September 24th. The game at the SkyEx Stadium kicks off at 3pm.
It is, of course, a return to the ground where our hearts were broken following the 2-1 defeat in the play-off semi-final five months ago.
However, it is a ground where The Seagulls have done well at in recent seasons as Scott Bartlett’s side have twice returned home to North Somerset with all three points after two 2-1 victories.
Earlier last season, having trailed by a goal to nil, goals from substitute Jordan Bastin and a last minute winner from Marlon Jackson claimed a very impressive win for The Seagulls on a cold January night in Middlesex.
And in August 2019, Weston won thanks to goals from Joel Randall and Ben Whitehead.
There were some notable outgoings at Hayes in the summer, as they lost the services of Omar Rowe to Farnborough, the side who pipped Hayes to promotion by beating them in the play-off final. In addition to Rowe, Francis Amartey joined Aldershot after his impressive season earned him a move away.
However; the lethal Moses Emmanuel remains a Hayes player, and United have signed Paul Hodges from Farnborough, so the home side won’t be short of firepower.
Hayes had to play an FA Cup replay on Tuesday following their 1-1 draw at Farnborough last Saturday. However, Boro proved to be Hayes’ bogey side once again with another victory at the SkyEx in midweek.
Following this cup setback, Hayes will be looking to get themselves back on track against the unbeaten Seagulls, in a game that is likely to be a good advert for Southern League football.
