WESTON HEAD TO DORSET FOR DORCHESTER TOWN TEST

Weston play their second pre-season friendly as they head to Dorchester Town this Saturday, July 8th. The match kicks off at 3pm.

The Seagulls make the journey to The Avenue, a ground enjoyed by players and fans alike, looking to continue with their preparations for life back in the National League South.

In Weston’s first pre-season friendly at Nailsea & Tickenham last Saturday, The Seagulls claimed a 3-0 victory after goals from Dayle Grubb, Elis Watts and Rex Mannings.

Facing Scott Bartlett’s side is a Magpies team who had a steady season in the Southern League Premier South last season. After spending a lot of time perilously close to the relegation trapdoor in recent campaigns, the arrival of Glenn Howes as manager has steadied the ship and Dorchester have made good progress with the new man at the helm. The Dorset side have also played one pre-season friendly after beating Bashley 3-1 at The Avenue on Tuesday night.

Saturday’s game comes just nine months after Weston’s previous visit to The Avenue. After a tight and goalless first-half, The Seagulls produced a stunning second-half display and claimed a 3-0 victory after wonderful goals from Marlon Jackson, Grubb and Scott Laird.
