WESTON HEAD TO EAST SUSSEX FOR EASTBOURNE BOROUGH CLASH

Weston are back on the road as they head to Eastbourne Borough this Saturday, 2nd September. The Vanarama National League South fixture kicks off at 3pm.

The Seagulls make the long journey to East Sussex having been boosted by Monday’s 1-1 home draw with Hemel Hempstead. Nearly 1,500 fans attended the Optima and the vast majority were delighted when James Dodd equalised in the second-half with his precise, long-range finish. That point for Scott Bartlett’s side moved Weston onto ten points for the season, a pleasing return from the 18 points possible.

Eastbourne Borough currently find themselves second-bottom of the very early NLS table after picking up four points from their six games. After beating Hampton & Richmond on the opening day, and then gaining a point at Farnborough, Eastbourne then lost their next four, including two narrow home defeats against Bath City and Truro City.

It’s been quite a tough start for The Sports’ new manager, Mark Beard, who took over at Priory Lane this summer. Beard arrives with a good track record having been Brighton & Hove Albion’s Under 18s manager and Dorking Wanderers’ head coach in recent seasons and contributing to the success of those two clubs.

With Eastbourne looking to get back to winning ways, it promises to be another tough encounter for The Seagulls ahead of what should be an entertaining game on the South Coast.
