WESTON HEAD TO FROME IN FINAL FRIENDLY
Weston complete their pre-season preparations this Saturday, July 29th, with a trip to Frome Town. The match kicks off at 3pm.
Scott Bartlett and the rest of his coaching staff will be looking to put the players through their paces once again for a final time this pre-season campaign, with spots up for grabs against Havant & Waterlooville on the opening day of the Vanarama National League South season.
In the Seagulls’ most recent pre-season friendly, the side were defeated narrowly by Exeter City 3-2 at The Optima in an exciting end-to-end game, with a Joe O’Connor Own Goal and James Dodd finding the net for the hosts.
Frome have had a mixed pre-season so far, defeats coming against Bath City and Bridgwater FC, while drawing against Dorchester Town and Street FC. In their most recent pre-season friendly, they came out on top against FC Bristol with a 3-0 win.
Saturday’s hosts feature a number of former Weston players in their ranks, with Sam Teale, Pierce Mitchell, George Rigg and Ben Griffith having all lined up for the Seagulls at some point across the last decade. Weston’s summer signing Rex Mannings also enjoyed a three-and-a-half year spell with Danny Greaves’ side earlier on in his career.
