Weston play the final game of five consecutive matches at The Optima as Salisbury make the trip to North Somerset this Saturday, 5th November. The game kicks off at 3pm.
The Seagulls will be looking to put last Saturday’s FA Trophy defeat to Bognor Regis Town behind them, and Weston will be confident of doing so against a Salisbury side who have been struggling for form lately, although they did return to winning ways on Tuesday night after a 2-0 home win over Hanwell Town.
Weston boss Scott Bartlett was watching on in Wiltshire on Tuesday, and will be well aware of what Salisbury are capable of.
Many were surprised last month when long-serving manager Steve Claridge left The Whites, to be replaced by former Salisbury player Brian Dutton. Since Dutton has taken over the reins, the Wiltshire side have suffered heavy defeats at home to Met Police and Truro, and also lost 1-0 at nearby Dorchester last Saturday. The midweek win over Hanwell, therefore, would have been a relief for all involved at the Ray Mac.
Goals for our current Weston side have not been in short supply, and The Seagulls have scored in every home game this season. Weston will be looking to add to their prolific tally against a side that have struggled to keep the ball out of the net in the last few weeks, although Salisbury will have their confidence boosted by Tuesday’s clean sheet, a result that moved The Whites up to ninth in the Southern League Premier South table.
