WESTON HOST THE MARTYRS

As Weston are still keen to continue their winning streak after several postponed fixtures, The Seagulls host Merthyr Town at The Optima Stadium on Tuesday 10 March, 7:45 PM KO.

Ahead of our fixture versus Merthyr Town tomorrow, we have arranged a pitch inspection by a suitably qualified referee. This will take place early Tuesday tomorrow.

Last time Merthyr were welcomed to The Optima, Weston progressed to the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round with a 2-1 victory after goals from Scott Laird and Sam Hendy.

The South Wales team will make an hour and a half journey to try and secure their first win in 5 games. A win would also put Merthyr Town above Farnborough, but 12th place for the Martyrs could be short lived as Farnborough take on Taunton Town on Wednesday.

Weston are currently 10th in the table, mirroring Poole Town’s 45 points with the Dolphins above on goal difference. However, both teams are set to play tomorrow evening, meaning a win for either would only leave 1 point separating them from 8th place Gosport.

Weston’s last league meeting with Merthyr Town, resulting in a 1-1 tie, was held at Pennydarren Park and was Weston’s first away trip of the season.

With the welcoming of new goalkeeping coach Steve Laker, Weston are eager to get back to their fixtures with this match under the floodlights.

FIND THE OPTIMA
Leave the M5 at Junction 21 and take the A370 towards Weston town centre. Continue across three roundabouts and at the 4th (where there is a McDonalds) turn left into Winterstoke Road. Go straight across the mini roundabout, over a railway bridge and you will see the ground on your right hand side.

We have a fair sized car park at the stadium however there are a limited amount of match day parking for Blue Badge holders these spaces must be booked in advance. If you are travelling by coach/mini bus please contact ahead of time to enquire about reserving a space.
