WESTON HOST WOKING IN FA TROPHY SHOWDOWN

Weston are in Isuzu FA Trophy Third Round action as they host National League side Woking this Tuesday, December 12th. The match kicks off at 7:45pm.

The tie was originally due to be played on Saturday, December 9th but it was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Seagulls come into this fixture in great form having won their last six matches in all competitions, the last of which was last Tuesday’s 4-0 home victory over Worthing in Vanarama National League South. The game was goalless at half-time but Weston scored four times after the interval thanks to goals from James Dodd, Dayle Grubb, Jordan Bastin and Reuben Reid.

While Weston have seen quite a lot of game time lately, Woking have not played a league game since November 25th when they lost 4-2 at Boreham Wood in the National League. Ian Dyer is currently in caretaker charge at Kingfield after the dismissal of manager Darren Sarll in mid-November.

Dyer will be looking for a change of fortune when they visit BS24 and his side will provide a difficult test bearing in mind their Step 1 status. The Cardinals also have a good pedigree in this competition, having won the FA Trophy three times in the 1990s.

As for Weston, this is their first game in the Third Round of the FA Trophy since knocking out Gravesend & Northfleet after a replay in the 2003/04 season.

With The Seagulls in such great form, it promises to be another game to look forward to under the Optima lights.

Following Monday’s Fourth Round draw, Tuesday’s winners will visit Rochdale or Gateshead in the next round in the new year.

If the tie is level after 90 minutes, the game will go straight to penalties.
