WESTON-SUPER-MARE AFC AND BANWELL FC ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP
Weston-super-Mare AFC are proud to announce a partnership with local football club Banwell FC.
Thanks to the Football Foundation, Weston-super-Mare AFC are able to offer a full night to Banwell FC each week for all of their teams to train on the top quality 3G facility at the Optima Stadium. Banwell will benefit from it being at the reduced partnership club rate.
In addition to the facility use, they will receive three matchday experience packages which include professional coaching sessions from our coaching staff, food, a Q&A with the first team management, a signed programme and each child will walk out with the first team as a mascot.
All Banwell Junior players will also be given free access to all home league games at the Optima Stadium.
Weston-super-Mare AFC U16-U19 players will benefit from the opportunity of gaining experience within men’s football in the Banwell FC senior teams on a Saturday afternoon, which would further develop the academy players.
Banwell FC and Weston-super-Mare AFC will play a pre-season friendly on the main pitch at the Optima Stadium each year.
The partnership is a part of Weston-super-Mare AFC’s continued vision of developing the local players and coaches in the area, which will help to improve the quality of football in North Somerset.
Mark McKeever, Development Officer at Weston-super-Mare AFC, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for both clubs.
“Not only does it strengthen our links in the community at grassroots level, it also gives our Academy players the chance to experience senior football much earlier than they previously might have, which is vital for their development and progression”.
Paul White, Junior Chairman at Banwell FC, said: “This partnership is a great opportunity for Banwell FC to introduce Weston Academy players into adult football.
“Our aim over the next few seasons is to climb up the divisions with a first team that matches our facilities.
