WESTON TAKE ON BRAINTREE TOWN IN LATEST LEAGUE CLASH

Weston are back on the road in the Vanarama National League South, as they make the trip to Braintree Town this Saturday, October 21st. The match kicks off at 3pm.

After two games at the Optima, Scott Bartlett’s side head to Essex looking to continue with their good away form after the wins at Truro City and Farnborough at the end of September.

Facing Weston is a Braintree side that are unbeaten in their last five league games. However, the last four of those fixtures have ended in draws, so The Iron will be looking for the all-important three points against The Seagulls.

Last Saturday, Braintree chalked up yet another draw against Southern League Chesham United in the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. In Tuesday’s replay at The Meadow, The Iron were defeated by The Generals after a 3-1 defeat after extra-time. The tie was level at 1-1 after 90 minutes, but the Essex side conceded two more in the subsequent extra half-hour.

This is the first time since the 2017/18 season that Weston and Braintree have faced each other. In the corresponding fixture at Cressing Road in November 2017, The Seagulls returned home with all three points in the bag following Ash Harper’s winning goal in a 1-0 victory.

A similar result will be welcome this Saturday, but another tough encounter awaits Weston ahead of a busy upcoming fixture schedule.
