WESTON TAKE ON YATE TOWN IN SOUTHERN LEAGUE CLASH

For the second time this season, Weston make the short trip to Yate Town this Tuesday, 22nd November. The Southern League Premier South fixture at The South West Interiors Stadium kicks off at 7:45pm.

On the first occasion on October 8, The Seagulls won 2-0 in an FA Trophy fixture, as first-half goals from Lloyd Humphries and Marlon Jackson were enough to see Weston progress.

Weston head into this game looking to claim a third success of the season, and a league double, against The Bluebells after the 3-2 victory over Yate at The Optima back in August.

In those two aforementioned games, Peter Beadle was the man at the helm. However, the ex-Bristol Rovers and Bristol City striker endured a difficult time in South Gloucestershire and he was replaced recently by the former Paulton Rovers manager John Rendell.

Rendell jumped at the chance of managing his hometown team, and Yate’s form has picked up a little lately. Last Tuesday, The Bluebells gained a very impressive 3-0 win at Bracknell Town, before Saturday’s decent 0-0 draw at Salisbury. In the game at Bracknell, ex-Bath City player Tom Richards opened the scoring, before the experienced Kyle Tooze bagged himself a brace. Tooze had also been plying his trade at Paulton, before Rendell again showed his trust in him by taking him to Lodge Road.

The Seagulls head to South Gloucestershire looking for a sixth consecutive league victory, following Saturday’s solid 2-0 home victory over Poole Town. While Yate have showed signs of shoring up their leaky defence in the last week, Weston will head up the M5 full of confidence. It promises to be an exciting clash under fhe Lodge Road lights.
