WESTON TO HOST BRISTOL CITY UNDER-23s
Bristol City’s Under-23s will be playing at The Optima Stadium next season.
Weston-super-Mare AFC and Bristol City have agreed a one-year deal for The Optima Stadium to host the majority of Bristol City’s Under-23s home Premier League Development fixtures, which will be usually played on Monday afternoons.
Bristol City Chief Executive Officer Mark Ashton said: “We have an excellent relationship with Weston through our loan arrangement and now we are extending this to their high-quality facilities.
“The Under-23s will eventually be based and play their games at the new Failand training base, but to have an alternative venue in the short-term when games are not at Ashton Gate is important for Luke Williams and his squad.”
Tom Harrison, George Nurse and Aaron Parsons are currently on loan at Weston-super-Mare.
Weston-super-Mare AFC Club Secretary Richard Sloane said: “It is great to see that our pitch and facilities are of such a high quality to attract competitions like this to the Optima Stadium. This arrangement further cements the excellent relationship between the two clubs which includes the loan signings which have been so beneficial over the past few seasons.”
