WESTON TRAVEL TO HARTLEY WINTNEY FOR EASTER SATURDAY FIXTURE

Weston are back in Southern League Premier South action this Easter weekend as they make the trip to Hartley Wintney this Saturday, April 8th. The game at the Memorial Playing Fields kicks off at 3pm.

The Seagulls will go into this game boosted by the midweek victory over Winchester City. The 3-1 win on Tuesday came courtesy of goals from Jordan Bastin, Jacob Jagger Cane and Scott Laird.

Hartley will also be encouraged following their own positive result in midweek. On Tuesday night, they gained a vital 1-0 home win over fellow strugglers, Harrow Borough. Harry Cooksley scored the only goal of the game in the eleventh minute to give his side a boost in their quest to avoid relegation. Hartley reduced the gap to safety to six points, so that win over Harrow may well give them some renewed hope of survival. More results of a positive nature are a must for new manager Rowan Vine, who was appointed in January as successor to the previous manager, Ian Selley.

Weston and Hartley last played each other at the start of December at the Optima Stadium, as The Seagulls won by four goals to nil. Dayle Grubb took the matchball home with him after the early afternoon kick-off after scoring a hat-trick, with one of the goals coming from the penalty spot. James Dodd also got in on the act with one of his five goals for the season so far.

Weston will be looking to make it three wins in a row against Hartley, as in the corresponding fixture last season, Laird’s double secured a 2-1 victory. But with Hartley fighting for their lives to try and remain in the division, a tough encounter in Hampshire is likely.
