Weston are back on the road this Saturday, 4th March as they head to Hanwell Town in the Southern League Premier South. The match kicks off at 3pm.
The Seagulls make the journey to Middlesex looking to start the month of March in the same great form that saw them go undefeated in February, with Scott Bartlett’s side searching for their second consecutive victory after last Saturday’s 3-1 home win over Dorchester Town. Olly Mehew opened his Seagulls account with a well-taken brace, either side of Marlon Jackson’s close-range finish after a fantastic cross from Jay Murray.
Weston will be looking to complete a league double over Hanwell after The Seagulls’ 3-0 home win back in October. After two composed finishes, Jordan Bastin scored a brace that day as well, before Murray sealed all three points for Weston with an excellent finish. While that scoreline looks comfortable, Luke Purnell was required to make one of the saves of the season to prevent Hanwell getting back into the game.
Hanwell, known as ‘The Geordies’ due to their links with the city of Newcastle, are having a decent season in the Southern League Premier South after winning the Isthmian League South Central Division play-offs last year, and are currently 14th in the table following Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Harrow Borough.
Since beating Yate Town on February 7, The Geordies endured a difficult run and lost four league games in a row before their meeting with Harrow, meaning that Hanwell should go into the Weston game with more confidence following that midweek point.
