WESTON WELCOME WORTHING IN NATIONAL LEAGUE SOUTH CLASH

Weston return to Vanarama National League South action as they host Worthing at the Optima Stadium this Saturday, 11th November. The match kicks off at 3pm.

Adam Hinshelwood’s Worthing side find themselves near the top of the table, so will therefore provide a stern test for The Seagulls. The West Sussex side were in action in National League South on Tuesday night as they hosted Havant & Waterlooville. The home side ran out 3-0 winners after goals from Kane Wills, Ollie Pearce and Danny Cashman. That win was their second consecutive league victory after a 2-0 win in their last trip to Somerset against Bath City two weeks ago. In between those two league victories, there was a 4-1 defeat at Alfreton Town in the FA Cup First Round last Saturday.

It’s been a few good seasons for the West Sussex outfit as they won the Isthmian League Premier Division in 2021/22. In their first season in National League South, Hinshelwood’s side qualified for the play-offs but lost out to eventual play-off winners, Oxford City.

As for Weston, they play their second of four consecutive home games. In the first of the four, The Seagulls defeated Hengrove Athletic 9-0 in the Somerset Premier Cup on Tuesday. Rex Mannings lit up the Optima Stadium with a sparkling display that saw him score four goals, while Academy graduate Oscar Collins and the returning Marlon Jackson added pleasing doubles each before Jason Pope completed the scoring with his first goal of the season.

KEY MATCHDAY INFORMATION:

As our match with Worthing FC falls on Remembrance Day, we have additional activities going on prior to kick-off. We therefore ask that all supporters arrive 15-20 minutes earlier than usual.

Before the game we are delighted to be joined by several members of the Royal British Legion along with cadets from both OC 290 (Weston-super-Mare) Squadron Air Training Corps and Weston Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets.

The joint cadet forces will be providing both teams a guard of honour as they walk out on the pitch, the Royal British Legion flag bearing party will be leading the teams to the centre circle, and a member of recently passed 100-year-old veteran, Reg Charles, family will lay a wreath on behalf of Weston-super-Mare AFC.

The Last Post will follow the formation of teams around the centre circle and a minute’s silence will then be held.

We hope that as many supporters will join us before the game as we pay our respects.

Turnstiles 1 & 2 – located at our main turnstile block next to the club shop – card only.

Turnstile 3 – located on the opposite side of the ground by our 3G surface – cash only.

Turnstile 4 – located on the opposite side of the ground by our 3G surface – this is for Weston-super-Mare AFC Walking Football Members, Women’s Teams Players and Junior Academy Members plus 1 parent – cash & card.

It helps with congestion and access to the ground if you queue at the correct turnstile.

WESTON-SUPER-MARE AFC WALKING FOOTBALL, WOMEN’S TEAMS & ACADEMY MEMBERS:

Please note the entrance for Walking Football, Women’s Teams & Junior Academy Members is now via Turnstile 4.

Those eligible members will be admitted entrance as per your team agreement.

Junior Academy Parents, you will need to be with the Junior Academy Member at time of entering.

WESTON-SUPER-MARE AFC SEASON TICKET HOLDERS:

Your entrance using your Season Ticket Card will be via the players’ and officials’ entrance.

CAR PARK:

Our Supporters Car Park charges £2.00 to park on a match day. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept card payment for this. So please ensure you have £2.00 available to pay on arrival.

For Season Ticket holders, early arrival is recommended, your car park will be for your exclusive use, when full you will be given free parking in the Supporters Car Park, where possible, instead.

FACILITIES WITHIN THE GROUND:

Please note our Sportsman Bar will close 90 minutes prior to kick-off, at which time the turnstiles will be open and access can be made into the ground.

Our Somerset Suite Bar, Sports Lounge Bar, Kitchen and inside ground Joe’s Bar will all be open.

Card payment can be made at all three locations.

GROUND REGULATIONS:

Please note our full Ground Regulations are detailed on our website HERE. All spectators are expected to adhere to these regulations during any game held at The Optima Stadium. Failure to do so can result in expulsion from The Optima Stadium and its facilities with no refund issued.

CLUB SHOP:

The Club Shop within the Optima Stadium will be open for all Weston-super-Mare AFC first team games.
